Glassboro stuns Woodstown in Group 1 State Semifinal behind late game trick play

Glassboro defeated Woodstown, 14-10 in the Group 1 State Semifinal Friday night.

After a scoreless first quarter, senior Max Webb got the Wolverines on the board first with a 1-yard touchdown run with 4:15 left in the first half. Woodstown held the lead into halftime.

Freshman Xavier Sabb brought back a punt return 85 yards to get the Bulldogs on the board with 2:35 left in the third quarter. Freshman Davon Barr ran in the 2pt conversion. Glassboro held a 8-7 lead heading into the third quarter.

Junior kicker Jake Ware knocked in a 22-yard field goal to give Woodstown a 10-8 lead with 5:30 left in the fourth quarter.

There came the bang. Barr hit Sabb in stride for a 60-yard touchdown. The trick play gave the Bulldogs the 14-10 lead with 50 seconds remaining. Glassboro Head Coach Timmy Breaker gave credit to Offensive Coordinators, Wright and Mac for the season saving play call. Barr intercepted Webb on the game's final play to seal the victory and punch Glassboro's ticket to the Group 1 State Semifinal. https://x.com/tortreports/status/1725697884090216825?s=20

“Bend but don’t break, and they didn’t break today. They never gave in. They never gave up,”  Breaker said.

"Tortreports" player of the game Sabb had a 85 yard punt return touchdown, along with being on the receiving end of the 60-yard game-winning play.

Glassboro (9-3) will take on Mountain Lakes (10-2) in the NJSIAA Group 1 State Championship at Rutgers University. (Date/Time: TBD)
