New York Giants Draft -- Welcome to New York

The 2024 NFL Draft is officially in the books and while we wait for the official Draft Grades to roll in let’s look at the players Big Blue drafted.

RD 1 Pick 6 – Malik Nabers, WR, LSU. Nabers is an explosive receiver that is a true deep threat and expected to make immediate Day 1 impact in the Giants offense. He is smooth and graceful. But most importantly his separation skills are outstanding and something that Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll really loved about Nabers.

Nikki's grade: A+

RD2 Pick 47 – Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota. Praised for his leadership skills, Nubin was viewed as the best Safety in the draft by analysts and scouts. A ball hawk with 13 career interceptions. He’s a versatile player calling himself “a Swiss army knife” he should be able to step in for Xavier McKinney and be a top performer.

Nikki’s Grade:  A

RD3 Pick 70Andru Phillips, CB, Kentucky.  You can never have too many CB’s in my book! Especially with Adoree Jackson remaining an unsigned free agent. Andru is tough and aggressive in coverage with Joe Schoen saying he is most likely going to start in the slot but must flex outside. Andru will be given the chance to make an impact in the Giants secondary.

Nikki’s Grade:  B

RD4 Pick 107Theo Johnson, TE, Penn State. With Darren Waller still undecided about his retirement it’s no surprise that the Giants grabbed a Tight End in Round 4. Johnson joins the newly added tight ends Chris Manhertz and Jack Stoll. Manhertz and Stoll are more blocking tight ends, but the thought is that Johnson could add to the passing game. Viewed as a work in progress with promising potential.

Nikki’s Grade: B-

RD5 Pick 166Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, Purdue. Tracy is by no means a replacement for Saquon Barkley, but the Giants are hoping to get more production out of him than they got out of Eric Gray. Playing WR for four years at Iowa, Tracy is an interesting and older prospect at 24 years old. A true 3rd down back with pass catching abilities, he can also contribute on special teams due to his experience with being a return specialist at Iowa.

Nikki’s Grade:  C

RD6 Pick 183 – Darius Muasau, LB, UCLA. Projected as a backup linebacker it’s clear the Giants went with positional depth in this year's draft. Muasau has shown that he can get to the Quarterback so they may incorporate him in some blitz packages. He has been described as a well-rounded linebacker who is durable with a lot of experience.

Nikki’s Grade:  C

Overall, the Giants had a very solid draft adding talent and depth in key areas. Stayed tuned for more coverage throughout the offseason as JSN follows the Big Blue Rookies through Rookie mini-camp, OTA’s and training camp!
