Ringwood's Jimmy Ciarlo receives NFL opportunity from New York Jets

Ringwood, N.J. native Jimmy Ciarlo will stay in New Jersey for a bit longer after signing with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent.

An outside linebacker, Ciarlo started for the Army West Point football team the past two seasons and was one of four captains on last year's team. Last season, Ciarlo racked up career highs in tackles with 58 (29 solo), tackles for loss with 5.5, and sacks with three. Ciarlo also recorded one forced fumble last season for the Black Knights.

As a junior, his first year as a starter at West Point, Ciarlo amassed 55 total tackles (19 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss, two passes defended, and a fumble recovery.  Ciarlo played in 15 combined games between his freshman and sophomore years at West Point.

Additionally, Ciarlo helped lead Army to a 3-1 record against Navy during his career, while also helping the Black Knights win the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy outright twice and retain it once. Ciarlo also participated in two bowl games as a Black Knight, falling to West Virginia in the 2020 Liberty Bowl while topping Missouri in the 2021 Armed Forces Bowl.

Ciarlo had an impressive pro day at West Point in March, where he turned in an impressive workout on the 225-pound bench press, where he recorded 34 reps. His bench press mark would have tied him for second at the NFL Combine and was only topped by an offensive lineman.

Before West Point, Ciarlo attended Saint Joseph's Regional High School in Montvale. Ciarlo played cornerback at Saint Joseph's, where he had over 50 pass breakups, recorded seven interceptions, and forced two fumbles.
