Bridgewater, NJ--Yankees #1 Top Prospect, Spencer Jones, received the call up to Double-A, after two years in Hudson High-A and Tampa Tarpons, respectively. He batted third in the lineup for Somerset on Sunday for the final game of the series against the Yard Goats as the Patriots stole the win and series vs the Yard Goats.
Jones went 2-4 on his debut and recorded his first multi-hit game in his Double-A debut. The Patriots went 5-1 this series against the Yard Goats and are now 25 games over .500.

Rice continued his hot hitting, going 4-9 with a home run and two RBI in his last two games. Elijah Dunham hit one home run, drove in three runs, stole two bases and walked five times in the series.

Thorpe had his third Somerset start on Friday. He dominated by pitching five no-hit innings and nine strikeouts, giving up only two hits in 6.1 innings. The only run he surrendered came from back to back doubles in the sixth inning.

Thorpe struck out nine batters and his "cambio" which is a combination of change-up/slider is as good as advertised. The pitch looks like a strike and drops out towards the bottom of the zone. Hitters have swung and whiffed through this pitch routinely.

The offense backed up Thorpe early. Josh Breaux had an RBI single for their first run and outfielder Richardson got his first Double-A RBI with a single. Somerset was up 2-0 after the first inning. Richardson continued his big day with a double and a home run. He went 3-5 with three RBI on the night. Caleb Durbin had an RBI double and Ramirez had an RBI single. Dunham added onto the scoring with a two-run double.
