NJ Devils vs Montreal Canadiens Preview

The New Jersey Devils are back in action after being on a four-day hiatus. The Devils will be in Montreal taking on the Canadiens at 7:15 p.m.

The Canadiens are at the tail-end of a back-to-back, where they beat the Buffalo Sabres 3-1. The Devils are coming off an overtime win against the New York Islanders, where Jack Hughes showed why he is an upcoming superstar in the league.

The Devils have had a decent start to the season, having a record of 2-1-1, and are looking to build some momentum. A bright spot in the Devils gameplay has been the powerplay. As of now, the Devils are in first place in the league with a percentage of 42.9%. Winning teams have a successful powerplay, so it is important for the Devils to continue this hot streak on the extra-man advantage if they want to continue to win games.

As always, Hughes will be a player to watch as he has put up 10 points in four games.

Captain Nico Hischier and Erik Haula both joined practice after having some injuries the past few days. They will be players to watch as both need to continue to produce. Another player to watch will be Timo Meier. Meier had a slow start to the season and got benched the entire third period of the game against the Panthers. After being benched, he put up two assists in the game against the Islanders. Tyler Toffoli is the last player to watch as he notched his first goal as a Devil on the powerplay against the Islanders. With the powerplay cooking, there should be more goals coming from Toffoli.

Montreal Canadien Cole Caufield is currently leading the Canadiens with five points. He is a player to watch as he has found the back of the net three times.

Catch the game on MSGSN2, puck drop is at 7:15 p.m.
