Devils hold development camp as season quickly approaches

With the 2023-2024 NHL season approaching, the New Jersey Devils held their Development Training Camp.

The camp commenced this past Monday, ran for five days, and took place inside the RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House at the Prudential Center. There are a lot of young Devils that will continuously be catching the coaches' eye, along with fellow fans. This camp featured new prospects, special invitees and AHL players, with participants engaged in on and off-ice activities.

University of Michigan defensemen Seamus Casey and Ethan Edwards both attended the camp. Current Devils' defenseman and former Wolverine Luke Hughes was also once a part of Michigan's defense before officially playing for New Jersey this past year after the NCAA Frozen Four.

DEVILS LOOK FORWARD TO NEW SEASON

The Devils had an incredible season that included 52 wins, 22 regulation losses, and eight losses in overtime. The campaign culminated in New Jersey's first appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2018, and a first-round series win over the New York Rangers in the first round. Many Devils fans knew the team had this win in the books, but as a whole, they needed to work on their playoff strategies first. New Jersey fell in the second round against the Carolina Hurricanes in five games to end their remarkable season.

New Jersey has shown outstanding improvement and will only be great going forward. New Jersey has been growing and training better than ever. Many moves were made throughout the offseason, along with losing some unrestricted free agents such as Ryan Graves, Damon Severson, and Miles Wood. Fans were happy, yet sad, with some of these decisions, but they will be satisfied with how much more growth the Devils have a chance at. The top goal scorers during the 2022-2023 season were center Jack Hughes with 43 goals, left winger Jesper Bratt with 32 goals, and center and captain Nico Hischier, who put 31 goals in the back of the net.

The New Jersey Devils continue to make history and will be among the top hockey dynasties if the team's growth continues.
