Devils lose to the Boston Bruins

The New Jersey Devils headed into Boston for their last game of the year 2023 where they faced former players, like Pavel Zacha.

Devils Captain Nico Hischier scored the first and only point of the first period. Multiple calls of icing on New Jersey were heard and they began to work on this.

The second period was underway, and just nearly two minutes in, Devils rookie Luke Hughes, former Michigan Wolverine, scored his third goal in his last three games. Hughes now has seven goals this season and five Points over his last three games.

Tyler Toffoli headed off the ice with lower back pain after a hit from Bruins goalie, Linus Ullmark. That’s a major stressor for the Devils, as the forward had been performing and scoring very well recently. He returned to the game shortly after the Bruins first goal of the night.

Bruins forward, Jake DeBrusk, scored, getting them on the board at 2-1. Bruins alternate captain, David Pastrnak scored shortly after, which tied the game at 2-2.

With minutes left in the Second period, the Bruins were able to put in two more goals. Another goal by Pastrnak, a nice wrist shot and then, Kevin Shattenkirk scored to finish off the second period.

The third period commenced and wild defense was on display. The puck was everywhere back and forth between the two teams. The Devils fought to stay on top of the game as the Bruins kept scoring. Lindy Ruff's team started off extremely strong, even after beating the Chicago Blackhawks last night.

At around 4:11 in the third period, Devils defenseman, Kevin Bahl was led off the ice due to a penalty, giving the Bruins a power play. The Bruins scored again and this time it was Shattenkirk’s second goal of the night.

This was a sad ending for the Devils as they had won three straight games coming into today. It is important that the Devils stay on their toes and rest these next three days off until they face Washington on Wednesday to be back and better than ever.
