Devils' incredible overtime win over the Isles moves Jersey to 2-1-1

The New Jersey Devils are now 2-1-1 after beating the New York Islanders, 5-4, in overtime on Friday. The Devils had a huge game against a local rival.

Superstar Jack Hughes is New Jersey's leading scorer this season with 10 points already this season just in four games. Four of those points were just earned on Friday in Long Island. Not only did he score twice, including the big overtime winner, he also had an assist on his brother, Luke's goal that same night. Jack also assisted on his brother's first ever NHL goal, which was an overtime winner last season during the last game of the regular season against the Washington Capitals. Following them advancing to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Hughes brothers have been playing incredible together and there is so much hope for this season.

Friday's game went hand-in-hand from tie-to-tie each period. They tied almost every period, pushing for overtime. Dougie Hamilton netted a slap shot just with minutes left in the first period with assists from goalie, Akira Schmid and winger, Timo Meier to tie the game.

Unfortunately, Nico Hischier is under review for an upper-body injury and will be evaluated on Saturday. Nico only played two out of the three regulation periods. Jesper Bratt had such a great night with multiple assists, he continues to impress just like last season.

The Stars of the Night consisted of Jack Hughes, Luke Hughes, Jesper Bratt and defenseman John Marino. Marino called this game a “redemption game” due to the losses of the last few games.

The Devils had such a push starting throughout the first period. Even though the game was tough, it was nice to see such a great overtime win to bring back some early-season hope.
