The Scarlet Knights moved to 4-1 on the season after going 2-1 at the Summit Hospitality Group Open. The Scarlet Knights opened the three game series against Winthrop, where they won all three sets of the match.
Rutgers then faced North Carolina State, where they lost a very contested 3-2 match, and finally the Scarlet Knights faced Howard, where they once again won all three sets. It was a great weekend to be a Scarlet Knight as the Volleyball program shows much promise early in the season.
Rutgers vs Winthrop
The Scarlet Knights started the weekend off strong with a three set sweep of Howard. Rutgers took the advantage early after grabbing the first set 25-20. The Scarlet Knights then flew away in the second set, capturing it 25-10. The third set was a much closer one, but the Scarlet Knights were able to capture victory thanks to a 25-21 advantage.
Rutgers dominated in every single stat column except for attempts and blocks (tied).

Rutgers vs. NC State
The Scarlet Knights fought neck and neck with the Wolfpack through all five sets, but unfortunately NC State got the best of Rutgers in the fifth.
Rutgers and NC State exchanged every set, with Rutgers claiming the first 25-23. The wolf pack took the second set 25-21 to even the score, but Rutgers came back in the third 25-20 to go up one again. In the fourth the Wolfpack once again evened the score, taking the set 25-23.
Finally the Wolfpack took a 15-12 advantage in the fifth to claim the match. Nc State dominated in every stat category except for errors, aces and blocks.

Rutgers vs. Howard
The Scarlet Knights had a hard fought and contested match against Howard, but ultimately Rutgers was able to sweep the Bisons. The Scarlet Knights took the first set 25-23, the second set 27-25 and the third set 25-17.
Despite the Scarlet Knights sweeping, Howard had the advantage in five of eight of the stat categories. Rutgers proving that stats don’t mean much if you are able execute when it matters most.
