The Scarlet Knights went 2-0 at the Cavalier Classic, beating both North Carolina A&T and Virginia. Rutgers faced the Aggies first where they defeated them in three straight sets, 25-16, 25-16 and 26-14. This victory marks the Scarlet Knights third consecutive season opening win, and is the first time since 1995, 1996 and 1997 that Rutgers has started this hot.
For their second and last game at the Cavalier Classic, the Scarlet Knights took down Virginia 3-2. It was a very hard fought battle between the two teams, but Rutgers was able to grind out the win. Rutgers won sets two (25-22), four (25-20) and five (16-14), while Virginia won sets one (26-24), and three (25-17).
