NJ/NY Gotham FC Add New Goalkeeper to Their Roster

NJ/NY Gotham FC announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Cassie Miller from the Kansas City Current Thursday.

"I am very excited to join Gotham for the upcoming season," Miller said. "Gotham is a really special place to be right now in the league and I am excited to help build on last season's championship."

The Florida State alum has spent the last two seasons with the Current. Throughout the 2023 season, Miller started and played in 10 matches. In these 10 matches, she had four shutouts and averaged 1.30 goals scored against. She started in two matches in the Challenge Cup and had clean sheets in both games. Miller led the club in clean sheets in all competitions as she recorded six total during the season.

During the 2021 season, she played with the Chicago Red Stars. With the Red Stars, Miller became the first goalkeeper in the NWSL to record two shutouts in her first two playoff appearances. In the 'Windy City', Miller also led the team in shutouts in all competitions with seven throughout the 2021 season.

Miller joins Michelle Betos and Abby Smith as goalkeepers on the Gotham FC roster. Smith started 15 matches for the team last season, making 45 saves and had four clean sheets on the season. Miller will compete with Smith for the the starting job after Mandy Haught signed with the Utah Royals in the offseason.

"Cassie is a great addition to our goalkeeper union," head coach Juan AmorĂ³s said. "I am very excited to work with her this season, and we look forward to building on the success of last season."
