Rutgers Swimmer Elysha Pribadi Earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Elysha Pribadi earned her third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, making her the third Rutgers University athlete in history to do so.

Pribadi had helped the Scarlet Knights to a 199-99 victory over Villanova this past Saturday. She had won four of Rutgers' 13 events and she placed in the top 10 in two other events. Pribadi had won both the 200 and 100 breast event. In the 200 breast she recorded the fifth fastest time in Rutgers history, making it in at 2:14.12, winning with a 5.25 second margin. In the 100 breast, she won with a time of 1:02.12, marking her fourth win in this event on the season.

On Saturday, Pribadi also had the seventh fastest time on record in the 200 IM recording a time of 2:01.88 with a 5.64 margin of victory. She was apart of the 200 medley team, swimming the second leg, that took victory with a combined time of 1:45.94.

The third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor makes Pribadi the fifth Scarlet Knight to earn the honor. She is now the fourth to earn multiple Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors in a season, since Rutgers University joined the league in 2014-15.

Pribadi's first Freshman of the Week honor came just after her debut on October 11. She had won the 200 IM and was runner-up in the 200 breast at the Rutgers Pre-Season Tune-Up. That weekend she also had top eight finishes in the 100 fly and the 100 breast.

The second of Pribadi's honors came on November 15 with the freshman making a then PR in the 200 breast, which would help her win. She logged third place times in the 1000 free and 200 IM in the Battle of Cannon Trophy at Princeton. This was her debut in the 1000 free, in which she logged a time of 10:17.01. For two straight weekends, Pribadi had a Rutgers top 10 in the 200 breast. She earned what was then the sixth fastest time in school record with a 2:14.42.
