Rutgers women’s soccer explodes as they net 7 in win over FDU

After a rocky 1-1-1 start, the Rutgers women's soccer team were looking to bounce back and they did just that. The Scarlet Knights exploded as they scored seven goals against 0-3 Fairleigh Dickinson.

Rutgers wasted no time as they got on the board after just three minutes of play thanks to a nice finish by Gia Vicari and an assist by Riley Tiernan. The goal was Vicari’s first as a Scarlet Knight.

Just two minutes later Allison Lowrey netted one with the help of  Gia Vicari and Allie Post

In the ninth minute Riley Tiernan got on the board herself after capitalizing on a failed clear by FDU. The Scarlet Knights took their foot of the gas for the rest of the first half, until the 44th minute when freshman Ashley Baran netted her first collegiate goal. Sam Kroeger set Baran up with a nice leading pass.

The Scarlet Knights went into halftime with a confident 4-0 lead. After the break, the Scarlet Knights picked up right where they left off as Lowrey netted two in the 57th and 60th minutes of the game. A truly incredible performance by Lowrey that was one for the record books.

Riley Tiernan and Gia Vicari got the stat for the assist and on Lowrey’s second goal and Emma Misal and Sam Kroeger got the nod for Lowrey’s third.

With a 6-0 lead Gia Girman joined the party, netting her first of the season thanks to a nice assist by Olivia Russomanno

The Scarlet Knights finished the night with a dominant 7-0 victory. A great night offensively and defensively for a Rutgers team that finally showed their true potential this season.
