Easy Like Sunday Evening: Montclair Men's Soccer Rolls By Hunter

On a September Sunday night under the Montclair State lights, Hunter College became “Hunted College.” The Red Hawks cruised to an easy 8-0 win advancing to 2-0 on the year.

Right from the first whistle, the Red Hawks dominated on both ends of the ball. In the third minute of the game, Amer Lukovic (who else) found the back of the net after a beautiful ball from Owen Murphy, and Montclair quickly was up 1-0 2:09 into the game.

Three minutes later, Lukovic struck again with an unassisted goal putting Montclair up 2-0 less than six minutes into the game. Lukovic scored once more in the 8th minute, notching his 3rd goal of the game. This put the Red Hawks up 3-0 at less than 10 minutes in.

The Red Hawks' defense was too much for Hunter to handle all night. Montclair held Hunter to just three shots the entire game. The first one came 28 minutes in and was stopped by Red Hawks goalkeeper Boris Del Valle.

Montclair pulled away in the second half, tacking on goal after goal. Andre Shelton finished his incredible day by scoring a goal and assisting on two other goals as well. Murphy tacked on a goal after his assist earlier in the game.

The Red Hawks improved to 2-0 on the year and look to keep their hot start rolling on Friday night when they return to MSU Soccer Park to take on Babson College.

Final: Montclair State: 8 Hunter College: 0

Laidback Lukovic: The hat-trick was the second of Amer Lukovic’s college career. The Red Hawks’ leading scorer now has five goals in two games and shows no sign of slowing down.

First Collegiate Goal: In the 63rd minute, freshman forward Dillon Ferber notched his first career goal for Montclair.
