For the first time in 549 days, Gotham FC will play in a true road game in front of fans to kick off their 2021 campaign. The match will also mark the club's first since their rebrand, as the last time they were in competition they were known as Sky Blue FC.
"Overall it feels a little different going into the Challenge Cup with a much longer preseason this year," stated Gotham FC defender Gina Lewandowski. "We've had a lot more time together on and off the field as a team, as a unit, and analyzing our vision for the future. The rebrand has brought a different perspective to the club as a whole. We want to get onto the field and show who we are and compete at the highest level."
Easily one of the most anticipated match-ups for the 2021 Challenge Cup, these two sides have not met in competition since September of 2019. That match ending in 1-1 draw.
Fans wanting to see this exciting match will be able to, as the match will be airing on CBS Sports Network on April 14 at 7pm ET.
