Devils Continue to Succeed

Last night, the Devils walked away from the Windy City with a 4-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Without key players, captain Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes, others had to step up and fill in the missing pieces.

As usual, the Blackhawks found the back of the net first when former Devil Taylor Hall was given the chance early on. That did not matter though as Dawson Mercer finally found the back of the net on the powerplay, giving him his first goal of the season and the first point. This was the best time for Mercer to finally collect a point as the Devils are missing their two top center forwards.

Max Willman, who was called up from the AHL in the absence of Hughes and Hischier, added another goal shortly after Mercer’s. Curtis Lazar found the back of the net again and Michael McLeod added the empty net, finalizing the win for the Devils.

Even after shuffling around the powerplay units, the Devils' lethal powerplay continued to show why it is the best in the NHL, going one for three on the night.

It took a team effort to pull out the win, which is most likely what Devils fans will have to see for the next few games and the fanbase awaits more news on their captain. Hughes is week-to-week so news on him will be more delayed.

The Devils play again on Nov. 7 against the Colorado Avalanche in Colorado at 10:00 p.m.
