Rutgers' Destiny Adams earns All-Big Ten honors

Destiny Adams has been named to the All-Big Ten Second Team as selected by the conference's coaches. Adams was also named to the All-Big Ten Honorable Mention list in the Big Ten media's honor.

Adams just completed her first season in the Big Ten, having played her previous two collegiate seasons at the University of North Carolina. The Manchester native paces active players on the Scarlet Knights in points per game, averaging 15.1. She also ranks fifth in the Big Ten with 469 overall points.

Adams has led the team in scoring 12 times this season and has scored in double figures in the last 16 games (26 times overall). Her career high came against Penn State on January 14th, when she scored 33 points, matching the team's season-high for scoring. Adams has netted 20-plus points in six games. The junior has seven double-doubles, with four coming in conference play.

On the defensive end of the floor, Adams leads the team off the glass with 7.4 rebounds per game. In rebounds, like in scoring, she is fifth in the Big Ten with 230 rebounds. Adams led the team in boards in 15 games this season, reaching 10+ rebounds on seven occasions. She also leads the Scarlet Knights in steals with 50.

After a subpar 8-23 regular season, Rutgers must dig deep to make it far in the Big Ten Tournament. The Scarlet Knights look to make it to the second round tonight as they face off against Minnesota in Round One at 6:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on Peacock.
