Red Hawks Volleyball falls to Ramapo 3-0

The fans packed into Panzler to see their Red Hawks Volleyball team take on Ramapo College. The match started out strong for the Red Hawks, jumping out to a quick 5-1 lead to start off the first set. Ramapo would then go on a run to take an 8-point lead over the Red Hawks. Rachel Curran was able to stop the run with a kill finally. The Red Hawks fought off a few set points but the Roadrunners were able to close out the first set and go up 1-0.

The second set was all Ramapo early with a kill by Riley Stewart to put the Roadrunners up 15-10. Montclair would then get three straight kills from Shelley Eaton, Curran and Zoey Horn to cut the deficit to just two points. The two teams traded points keeping the distance between them around three to four points. A service error would ultimately bury the Red Hawks in this set, falling 25-19.

In the third and final set, Montclair jumped out to a 5-1 lead once again. Ramapo this time chipped away at the lead until they knotted the set up at 10. After the Red Hawks went up 12-10, the Roadrunners rattled off five points in a row to take a 15-12 lead. Curran was key in helping the Red Hawks stay afloat in this set, helping Montclair score 4 straight putting them in the lead 18-17. Montclair's last chance to push the game to a third set came when they tied the game at 24. A Desiree Cruz kill followed by an attack error finished the set and the match.

Ramapo advances to 11-0 on the year and Monclair falls to 8-8 with a matchup at Rowan Thursday night.
