Princeton continues their winning ways against Yale

Princeton University women's volleyball took the court against Yale University in an Ivy League matchup that saw the Tigers win in four sets. This extends Princeton's win streak to six, and their overall record is now 19-3.

Princeton was led by freshman Lucia Scalamandre who had 14 kills and a career-high nine blocks. Senior Lindsey Kelly led the team with 45 assists and senior Avery Luoma had 13 digs.

The Tigers started the first set strong, defeating the Bulldogs 25-20. Yale held a 6-2 lead at the beginning of the set, but a pair of 3-0 runs by Princeton gave them then the 10-7 lead.    With the Tigers up by two, Scalamandre recorded a kill that sparked a 4-0 run. Yale was able to close the gap to two to make the set score 18-16. Another 3-0 run by the Tigers gave them a 21-16 advantage, before Scalmandre produced a kill on the set point to win the first set 25-20.

The second set was very back-and-forth. The Tigers took the initial 8-7 lead, but the Bulldogs went on a 4-0 run to take a 11-8 lead. After a kill from Luoma, Princeton had the set squared at 13-13. They then had a 5-0 run to secure the second set 25-20.

In the third set, Yale had their best showing of the evening. They started with a 9-7 lead before going on a 4-0 run to gather a 15-8 lead. The Tigers were able to cut the deficit to three, but it was not enough to defeat the Bulldogs. Yale won this set 25-21 making the overall score 3-1.

In the fourth and final set of the evening, the Bulldogs held a 6-5 lead before senior Elena Montgomery recorded a kill that led to a 3-0 Princeton run. After the score was tied 9-9, Scalmandre had another kill that ignited a 5-0 run. With Princeton leading by four, Scalmandre had a kill that led to a 3-0 run that saw the Tigers win the set 25-21.

The Tigers won the match 3-1 against the Bulldogs.
