Jesper Bratt Named NHL All-Star

With the All-Star break coming up, it has been a question if Jack Hughes would be taking part in the All-Star weekend due to his injury. As most expected, news broke he will not be participating, but will still go and remain as co-captains with his brother, Quinn.

The Devils point leader, Jesper Bratt, will have to leave his All-Star week vacation early and book a flight to Toronto as he will now be taking Hughes’ spot in the activities for the weekend for his first All-Star game ever.

As a sixth-round pick, Bratt has been nothing but phenomenal for the Devils. This season, he has 19 goals and 31 assists for 50 points in 47 games played.

In 436 games played wearing the Devils sweater, Bratt found the back of the net 121 times and assisted on 205 goals for a total of 326 points. He recently signed an eight-year, $63 million contract with the Devils as he has broken out over the past few seasons and has become one of the best players in the NHL.

The All-Star weekend begins on Thursday and runs all the way to Sunday. The main events of the weekend, the All-Star Skills competition and the NHL All-Star Games, will take place on Friday and Saturday. The skills competition will come first on Friday as all the All-Stars get together to show off what they do best. Then on Saturday, the four selected captains, Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon and the Hughes’ brothers will each select players to be on their teams to play in the games.
