2023-24 High School Hoops Season Begins With Two Nationally Ranked Teams in NJ

The 2023-34 high school basketball season gets underway this week and the scene around New Jersey is expected to be electric once again. This year, New Jersey features two nationally ranked teams to start the season.

On the girls side, Morris Catholic enters the season ranked No. 11 in the country according to MaxPreps.com. After a 28-3 campaign a season ago, William Lovett has his team prepared for a national schedule this season. Appearing on their schedule are fantastic matchups with Mater Dei, The Mecca NY, No. 6 IMG Academy, St. John-Vianney, and nationally ranked No. 1 Long Island Lutheran.

The Crusaders can matchup against any opponent due to their ability to play inside and out. Manhattan College commit, Alexis Rosenfeld, and Madison Miller are 6'3 towers down low and are joined by 6'2 Morgan Fulston. The Pauldo twins, Mia and Mya, are explosive guards that can score on anyone.

This is once again a loaded, deep roster, and the Crusaders are looking to defend their Non-Public B title.

Onto the boys side of things, Don Bosco Prep enters the season ranked No. 4 in the national MaxPrep poll. Don Bosco Prep is led by Dylan Harper, New Jersey's top ranked recruit and the reigning NJ.com Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Head coach Kevin Diverio has an experienced squad that will be a tough out for any opponent this season.

After a season opener against Eastside, the Ironmen travel to the City of Palms Tournament for an early season test against No. 21 McEachern. Many local hoops fans will have their eyes on this matchup as it will feature Rutgers' two top five commits, Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey going head-to-head.
