Tyler Toffoli's Stunning Week

Tyler Toffoli has seemed to find his place in Jersey very quickly as he was named the NHL’s first star of the week.

It all started on Oct. 24 when the Devils played against his former team, the Montreal Canadiens. Toffoli netted a hat trick which powered the Devils to a 5-2 win.

The next night, the Devils took on the Washington Capitals at home, where Toffoli continued to have the magic touch. Despite the lackluster effort from the Devils, he was able to find the back of the net two times in less than 10 minutes during the second period. He also added an assist to his impressive week on Timo Meier’s first goal of the season. The Devils were not able to pull off a win, but Toffoli continued to prove why he was a good addition to the team.

After not recording a point during the 5-4 win against the Buffalo Sabres, Toffoli found himself back in the scoring column against the Minnesota Wild. The Devils power play has become as lethal as it gets and Toffoli has implemented himself as a key player during the man-advantage. Toffoli added a sixth goal during this four game span, putting up seven points during that time frame.

As the NHL’s first star of the week, he beat Tampa Bay Lightning’s goalie Joonas Johansson, who had a 2-0-0 record this week with two shutouts and 55 saves. The third star of the week was Ryan Hartman from the Minnesota Wild who put up five goals and two assists in four games played.

Earlier in the season, Toffoli claimed Jack Hughes is the best player he has played with in his career. Hughes assisted on five out of six of Toffoli’s goals during his impressive week. Even though it is early in the season, it is inevitable these two have created great chemistry and can be an extremely dangerous line with Jesper Bratt on the other wing.

Toffoli has had a great start to the season as he has put up 10 points in eight games and added a NHL’s first star of the week to his resume.
