Next Generation of Talent at the MLB All-Star Futures Game

Seattle, Washington -- The MLB Futures game was held on Saturday and hosted at Seattle Mariners' T-Mobile Park. The top prospects hit the big stage this weekend led by the elite coaching staff: Harold Reynolds (American League) and Raúl Ibañez (National League). The National League team took home the victory with clutch hitting from Miami Marlins Nasim Nunez who was later named the MVP of the game and dynamite pitching from Brewers Jacob Misiorowski.

Misiorowski had the most electric appearance of all. The Brewers prospect threw 10 fastballs at 100mph and struck out the side. He was throwing some high heat, touching 102 MPH.

ROSTER AND LINEUPS:

YANKEES TOP PROSPECTS

It was all about Yankees top prospect Clayton Beeter, who was recently promoted to Triple-A. Beeter felt great to be around great players that he has followed in the minors and getting to meet everyone and staff.

He joked, "I am just going to go out there and strike out the side, hopefully".

Beeter was the fifth pitcher to pitch for the American League. Futures games are only seven innings long so when he got the ball, he only threw nine pitches and only faced two batters. He entered in the seventh inning and gets a groundout and then strikes out MLB #3 prospect Jackson Chourio on a 84.7 mph breaking ball.

In an interview with Somerset Patriots pitching coach Grayson Crawford, he talks about Beeter, calling him a "work horse" and the best competitor that he has ever coached. Beeter has been a consistent pitcher day in and day out.

They have increased his change-up usage and introduce that pitch a little bit more and finding the best routine. Here is a clip of Beeter's off-speed pitches which has been the biggest key in his development.

Hudson Valley Renegade's Spencer Jones also hits the stage. The Vanderbilt product has been compared to Aaron Judge. Well that is because he is built like a tank. The 6'6"/225, 22-year old, expressed how special it was to be a part of this game and was honored to be there. He entered center field in the fourth and played good defense and showed good speed when charging for the ball.  He struck out in his first at bat but took a five-pitch walk in the seventh inning.

Jones is special and will rise through the Yankees system quickly. He is a five-tool player something extremely rare at his size. He is a name to watch for a call up to Somerset. Season stats this year with Hudson: 10 HR, 40 RBI, 19 SB .263 BA, .797 OPS.

NEW JERSEY STANDOUT PLAYER:

Justyn-Henry Malloy from North Jersey represented the Detroit Tigers in the futures game. Henry was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2021 and drafted to Detroit Tigers in 2022. He has been tearing up the Detroit Triple-A club, stats: 82 H, 14 HR, 52 RBI, .276 AVG,.402 OBP, and .870 OPS. He is putting up some good numbers despite playing in one of the hardest triple-A parks to hit. J-hen is the most disciplined player I have ever seen and will never swing at pitches outside of the strike zone.

In fact, we witnessed a pitching challenge call at the plate by J-Hen and earned a walk, that was his first walk of the day. He struck out his second at bat vs the right-hander Misiorowski from the Brewers. Henry also took another five pitch walk in his last plate appearance of the day. The power hitter could not find a pitch to hit. I'm excited for his success as we continue to follow his development into the big leagues.
