Red Bulls II's Ibrahim Kasule Called Up for Ugandan National Team

New York Red Bulls II midfielder Ibrahim Kasule was called up to the Ugandan National Team. The 19-year-old will report to Uganda and prepare for their upcoming friendly matches against Mali and Zambia.

Kasule finished his first season in MLS NEXT Pro where he quickly made a name for himself. In 27 appearances for the Red Bulls II, Kasule finished the season with 17 goals, six assists, and 31 shots on target. He was named to the MLS NEXT Pro “Best XI” this season and was awarded two Player of the Month awards. In August, Kasule made his MLS debut for the Red Bulls in their match against the New England Revolution where he played the last 26 minutes.

This is the second time Kasule has been called up to the senior national team. The 19-year-old was most recently called up to participate in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Niger in early September.

Other New York Red Bulls players who have been called for international duty include goalkeeper Carlos Coronel for Paraguay and defender John Tolkin for the United States. Tolkin was most recently called up for the U.S. Men’s Olympic National Team where he will be in Phoenix, AZ for camp and play two matches to prepare for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Kasule and the Ugandan National team will face Mali and Zambia on October 13 and 17.
