The West Deptford field hockey team defeated Collingswood, 2-1, in the semifinal round of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 1 playoffs Friday afternoon. This is the second consecutive season that the Eagles eliminated Collingswood from the state tournament after defeating them in last year's South Jersey group 1 final by the same score of 2-1.
West Deptford junior Kaylee Wonsetler got the Eagles on the board first late in the second quarter. Sophomore Zoey Gibbons extended their lead to go up 2-0 early in the fourth quarter. Collingswood junior Peyton Ryan got the Panthers on the board with 1:08 left in regulation, but it was too little too late. West Deptford's defense held strong for the 2-1 victory.
