The Kingsway Regional High School field hockey team completed its historic season with a 5-1 win over Ridge in the NJSIAA Group IV state championship Saturday morning at Bordentown Regional High School.
After a scoreless first quarter, Senior Mary Wordelmann scored the first two goals for the Dragons.

Junior Kate McCue scored first for the Red Devils late in the second quarter to make the deficit 2-1 going into halftime. Kingsway senior Sabrina McGroarty scored a goal off a corner early in the third quarter to extend the Dragons lead 3-1. https://x.com/tortreports/status/1723368665507115086?s=46
Junior Karlie Mertz and Sophomore Sophie Brown netted the last two goals for the Dragons as they defeated Ridge 5-1.
“I think last year gave us a lot of experience and confidence that would could handle it and do it again. They really showed up today. I’m so proud, beyond proud.” -Kingsway head coach Dana Ott said.
Top-ranked Kingsway concluded its season with a 20-2 record with zero in state losses. Ridge ended its season with a 17-7 record.
