James Caldwell falls to Seton Hall Prep in final round of Essex County tournament

James Caldwell High School’s lacrosse team is currently ranked 1st overall in the Waterman Division. Their last game was Saturday, May 11th, and it was a significant game. It was the final round of the Essex County Tournament. The game was against Seton Hall Prep, who is 9-5 overall. Caldwell lost 14-4 to end their winning streak.

The game started immediately when Junior Nolan Sabel from SHP made the game 1-0  6 seconds in. Jack Goldbach made it 2-1 for the Chiefs to lead the game until the Pirates tied it up before the end of the quarter. The second quarter was still tied up after both teams scored two more goals each to make it 4-4. This changed in the third quarter when the pirates took charge, made it a 6-4, and then took the lead. This lead led them right to be named the Essex County champions. Today, the Chiefs play Pope John on their home turf at 4:30 pm.
