The Scarlet Knights picked up a much needed Big Ten conference victory on the road on Thursday night as Rutgers took down Ohio State, 1-0. Rutgers seemed to be in control of the pace of play the entire match, and took the steering wheel when it came to momentum plays.
Scoring Recap
The Scarlet Knights scored the only goal in the match in the 48th minute off of a great series of passes. Sara Brocious started the play with a great leading pass to Allison Lynch. Lynch then send a beautiful ball into the box, finding a sprinting Becci Fluchel. Fluchel made a one touch finish to burry the ball into the back of the net. A gorgeous passing setup for the Scarlet Knights lifted them to victory.

Breaking It Down
The Scarlet Knights controlled the pitch all night long as they seemed to be more efficient, more speedy and more hungry than the Buckeyes. The Scarlet Knights released 20 shots with nine landing on net. Unfortunately for Rutgers, Ohio State's goaltender had a great night in cage with eight saves. None of the less the Scarlet Knights still had a lot of great things rolling, but better execution needs to be a priority.
Rutgers goaltender Olivia Bodmer had another solid net in net, recording four saves in the matchup. Two of Bodmer's four saves occurred early in the action, setting up a strong night for Rutgers.
Last night's victory over the Buckeyes was huge for the Scarlet Knights. The win moves Rutgers to 8-6-3 overall and 4-4-1 in conference. The Scarlet Knights are currently at .500 in the Big Ten and sit in tied 6th place in Big Ten standings.
Rutgers has one more game in the regular season before postseason play. The Scarlet Knights are looking to head into the Big Ten Tournament with another big win as they face the Northwestern Wildcats (9-4-4 overall, 3-4-2 in conference) at home on Sunday.
If the Scarlet Knights can pull off the victory they have a shot to move up in the Big Ten Standings and put themselves in a better position to qualify for the NCAA tournament.
