The Scarlet Knights got back in the win column Saturday afternoon after taking down Maryland 1-0. In a must win game for Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights pulled through to move to 6-5-3 overall and 2-3-1 in Big Ten play.
Breaking it down
The Scarlet Knights had a gritty back a fourth battle with the Terps all match long. With lots of offensive action, fans saw Rutgers unload 19 shots (six on goal), including 10 in the first half and nine in the second. Maryland, on the other hand, was only able to release five shots total (two on goal).
On top of the shot advantage, the Scarlet Knights also had a serious edge in corner kicks. Rutgers had a staggering 10 corner opportunities, compared to a mere two by Maryland.
Despite the countless opportunities for Rutgers they didn't find the back of the net on a corner opportunity or regular shot. The Scarlet Knights gained the 1-0 lead off of a late penalty kick in the 84th minute in the match.

Rutgers goaltender Olivia Bodmer only faced two shots in the match, both of which she saved for her sixth shutout victory of the year.
This win in College Park was extremely important for the Scarlet Knights as the win puts them another game closer to .500 (.417) in conference and just above .500 on the whole year (.536).
The Scarlet Knights have a huge test at home on Thursday against the 7-3-3 Michigan Wolverines. A huge game for their season and for Big Ten conference placement. A victory on Thursday would be huge for a Scarlet Knights team that is slowly gaining momentum.
