Rutgers Field Hockey Wins The Weekend To Move To 14-0

Scoring Recap vs Ohio State

It was a stalemate through regulation and overtime between the Scarlet Knights and the Buckeyes. Rutgers had some really nice opportunities throughout the match, but couldn't cash in until the penalty shootout. Iris Langejans almost came through for the Scarlet Knights in the first overtime, but just missing wide on a great individual effort.

In the penalty shootout, the Scarlet Knights came up clutch, burying four out of five attempts. The excellent execution secured Rutgers their third penalty shootout victory, and six win past regulation this season.

Breaking It Down

In this top-10 matchup, the Scarlet Knights were being dominated across the board. They had the disadvantage in shots, shots on goal and corners. Luckily for the Scarlet Knights, their defense, along with goaltender Sophia Howard, played like they were the No. 4 team in the nation.

Howard recorded six saves in the matchup and was a brick wall for the Scarlet Knights in regulation, overtime and penalty shootout. In the shootout, Howard forced the Buckeyes to miss two of their four one attempts, helping lead the Scarlet Knights to victory.

Scoring Recap vs Michigan State

The Scarlet Knights came out firing early in the match thanks to a nice diving backhand finish by Bridy Molyneaux. Just like that, the Scarlet Knights were on the board and up 1-0.

The Scarlet Knights found the back of the net again in the 23rd minute off of a beautiful pass from the sideline to right in front of the goal by Carly Snarski. Guillermina Causarano made the nice one touch quick finish for the score.

The Spartans finally responded late in the 36th minute off of a penalty stroke, to get within one. However, the score didn't faze the Scarlet Knights as they scored in the 56th minute to go back up by two. Molyneaux cashed in again, for her second score of the day, off of a save from the Spartans goalkeeper.
