Center Back Andrés Reyes Signs New Extension with Red Bulls

The New York Red Bulls have extended defender Andres Reyes with a new MLS contract. The 24-year-old’s new extension will start in 2024 and go through the year 2026 with an option to extend for 2027.

This is Reyes’s fourth season in the MLS and third with New York. The Colombian native started his MLS career with Inter Miami CF in 2020, where he started in 13 matches for the club's inaugural season.

Reyes moved to New York in 2021 where he quickly became an integral piece for the Red Bulls’ defense. The center-back has started 25 MLS games this year contributing to one of the better defenses in the league.

“Andrés has developed into one of the top center backs in the league during his time with our club,” Head coach Troy Lesesne said. “We are thrilled to keep him and look forward to seeing him continue to be a leader in our backline.”

Growth of Andres Reyes Has Been Huge For Red Bulls

Reyes’s growth with New York has been colossal and remains consistent which has made him such a key player for the club.

In his 57 appearances with the Red Bulls, Reyes has four goals including two this year. This season, he has 56 interceptions, 105 aerial duels won, and 199 recoveries, all ranking in the top 10 among MLS players.

Reyes was also called for the first time for the Colombian Men’s National Team camp in January.
More good news follows as Reyes obtained his United States green card making him a permanent resident of the nation. Starting in 2024, he will no longer hold an international roster spot for the Red Bulls.
