NJ/NY Gotham FC to play in The Women's Cup Colombia

NJ/NY Gotham FC will be heading to Colombia for The Women's Cup Colombia. Racing Louisville will join the reigning NWSL champions in Cali, Colombia as the two teams are set to represent the National Women's Soccer League. The two American clubs will face off against América de Cali and Deportivo Cali, both clubs from Colombia, at Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero.

The preseason tournament will allow fans to see how Gotham's new signings will fit into the team. With US National Team stars Crystal Dunn, Tierna Davidson, Rose Lavelle and Emily Sonnett having been signed in the offseason the Women's Cup will give a glimpse into how the Bats will defend their title.

The Women's Cup Colombia will mark the first time the tournament is held in South America. It is also the first time NWSL clubs will play in South America against South American teams. This Cup marks the first of four intercontinental tournaments this season in women's club soccer. It kicks off with two semifinal games, with Gotham taking on Deportivo Cali. The winner will play in the final against the winner of other semifinal match and the loser will play in the third place match.

"The Woman's Cup Colombia provides an invaluable competitive opportunity for us to face high-level opponents in true game scenarios," Gotham FC General Management and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West said. "As we fine-tune our chemistry heading into the regular season, we look forward to meeting new opposition in addition to exposing both the players and the club brand to new audiences and experiences".

Gotham kicks off the tournament on February 27th at 5 p.m. with the third place match and final on March 2nd at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. respectfully. The NWSL regular season starts on March 16th, so the preseason tournament will give Gotham a chance to see how the team plays together before the opening match.
