Jersey Sporting News (JSN) is preparing to take its followers and readers Beyond the Press Box, turning them into listeners with this brand new sports lifestyle podcast. The podcast is the first of what JSN believes will be many others, creating an entire podcast network to work side-by-side with the already existing Jersey sports coverage.
Jersey girls Amanda Merlo and Nicole Mehl will host Beyond the Press Box and provide listeners a unique perspective on all things sports throughout the Garden State. Unlike many other podcasts, Beyond the Press Box will not painstakingly analyze statistics and games. Instead, Amanda and Nicole expect to resonate with their listeners and bring a fun, entertaining side to the sports and fitness realm.
"Our goal for Beyond the Press Box is to talk all things sports lifestyle from a female perspective," Mehl explains. "Reliable sports content with a fun twist!"
Whether it's tailgating tips from Amanda, or some insight into being behind the camera on the sidelines of a big game from Nicole, the hosts are ready to have fun with listeners and bring a unique spotlight to New Jersey sports.
Meet The Hosts of Beyond the Press Box
Amanda Merlo is a media personality and health & wellness enthusiast. She has her bachelor’s from Pace University, where she studied at the Dyson School of Arts and Science. She later went on to study The Science of Well-Being at Yale University.
Amanda is a member of the New York Road Runners, where she is a proud part of Team Animal League, the worlds largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization. In 2023, she was honored to be a part of their circle of hope.
In addition to her love for animals, Amanda is a fan of stand up comedy, horror films, rock & roll and of course the New York Yankees!

Nicole Mehl is a photographer here at Jersey Sporting News, and also owns her own media business while studying Media & Film at Kean University. All her life, Nicole has been involved in sports. From playing to watching, and now photographing, you can always find her on the field.
In her free time, you can find her on the slopes with her snowboard, or curling up on the couch watching football.
