Amer Lukovic Named D3 National Player of the Year

The postseason accolades continue to pour in for Montclair State junior forward Amer Lukovic. On Tuesday, Lukovic was named the 2023 NCAA Division III National Player of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches organization.

It was a stellar season for the three-time All-American. Lukovic led the NCAA in points (75), goals (34), and game-winning goals (11). He set a new school record with 75 points and 34 goals while becoming the first student-athlete in program history to score over 30 goals in a season.

Lukovic joins John Deutsch (baseball,1989) and Lois Fyfe (softball,1992) as the only three Red Hawks in school history to be named a National Player of the Year.

Lukovic - A Consistent Contributor

A major key to Montclair State's dominant regular season and deep run in the postseason, Lukovic was a consistent force on the pitch. The Clifton, NJ native recorded at least one point in all but two games this season and opened the year with goals in his first nine contests. He also stepped up in some of the teams biggest moments this season. Lukovic scored twice with an assist in the victory over William Paterson University at Red Bull Arena. Then, in the NCAA Tournament, Lukovic tallied six goals in three games.

"It's an amazing feeling to achieve this award and an honor to do so while representing Montclair State University Soccer," Lukovic said, through a statement released by the school. "I couldn't have done it without my teammates."

Lukovic is a three-time All-Region selection and was also chosen as the 2023 NJAC Offensive Player of the Year.
