NJ/NY Gotham FC sign new forward

Gotham FC has officially signed restricted free agent Ella Stevens through 2025, with an option for 2026.

"I am thrilled for this next chapter and to join Gotham," Stevens said. "It is a very exciting time for the club and the fans, and I am really looking forward to this upcoming season."

The forward signed from Chicago Red Stars was drafted in the 2020 draft by her former team. In the 2023 season, Stevens played in 22 games, starting 16 of the games she played in. She scored four goals and had one assist. Her four goals made her tied for the most goals scored for the Red Stars last season. In 2022 Stevens started in 10 of the 19 games she played, scoring fours and having two assists. In her rookie season she made five appearances.

"Ella is a very hardworking forward, who can affect the game on the attacking and defensive end," Head Coach Juan Amorós said of the forward. "She is a great fit for our system, and I am excited to work with her."

Gotham's General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West,  echoed Coach Amorós' statement, saying "Ella adds another layer of depth to our frontline, and we are excited to see her grow and thrive at Gotham."

Coming off their NWSL Championship, Gotham FC has had a very busy offseason, retooling the roster. The signing of Stevens is the lastest in a line of additions that includes some big names like Crystal Dunn, Tierna Davidson, Rose LaVelle, and Emily Sonnett.

The NWSL has not yet released it's league schedule but fans can purchase 2024 season tickets now.
