Gotham FC vs. San Diego Wave

Gotham's NWSL Season Schedule Released

NJ/NY Gotham FC announced their 2024 season schedule yesterday. There will be 13 home games and 13 away games for a total of 26 regular season matches.

Gotham's season kicks off on March 24 against the Portland Thorns at Providence Park in Portland. Their next match is on March 30 in North Carolina against the Courage before heading home for their 2024 home opener against the Kansas City Current on April 14 at Red Bull Arena.

The NWSL will take a break during the Paris Olympics from July 15 to August 18. There will be a tournament, however, organized by the league that will feature all 14 NWSL teams as well as international clubs during this summer's Olympics.

Gotham is looking to build off a successful post season in 2023 by starting strong on March 15 for the Challenge Cup against San Diego Wave. The Bats ended the 2023 regular season with eight wins, seven losses, and seven draws, finishing 6th in the table.

Despite this they did end up winning the NWSL. With such a strong finish Gotham was able to add star power in the off season with the likes of Rose LaVelle, Crystal Dunn, Emily Sonnett, and Tierna Davidson, building on an already strong roster.

After finishing the 2022 season in last place, Gotham turned it around last season, showing that the club is taking strides in the right direction to achieve more in the NWSL.

At a press conference last week General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West talked about what Gotham is trying to build.

"Our vision is very clear, it's a big vision," Averbuch West said. "We want to be the global capital of women's soccer." -Yael Averbuch

The first trophy up for grabs for the Bats will be against San Diego Wave at Red Bull Arena on March 15 for the NWSL Challenge Cup after a preseason tournament in Colombia starting on February 27.
