GMC Boys Basketball Games of the Week

St. Thomas Aquinas vs St. Joseph (Met.): Tuesday 1/16

St. Joe's has been on fire this season and remains undefeated in the conference. Senior guard Jeremy Clayville has been lighting it up on offense, scoring 242 points in just 11 games, proving he is one of the best players in the conference. He’s tough to shut down in any game but St. Thomas should be able to hold him back a little bit.

St. Thomas has junior and senior duo Aiden Ur and Rinelson Dilone who have been very dominant so far, scoring 215 and 202 points respectively. This is the first time these two teams will be matching up this season and it will be a competitive and physical game from both sides.

Colonia vs Monroe: Monday 1/15

Colonia and Monroe have been neck-and-neck in terms of record so far this season. They currently sit ranked as the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the GMC and are fighting for first place. Monroe has two very powerful seniors in Mark Laughery and Myles Marabuto who have been leading their team in points this season. They are both great scorers and know how to move the ball up the court as well as being dominant on defense.

This duo will be hard for Colonia to stop on Monday. Colonia has sophomore superstar Aiden Derkack, a guard who has put up 242 points this season and who is assertive on offense. He will be a nightmare for the Monroe defense and will be a key player to watch out for. This is the first time these two teams match up this season and a close game can be expected.

Monroe vs Old Bridge: Tuesday 1/16

In the first game of their season, Monroe took a hard loss from Old Bridge 51-44, starting their season on a bad note. Since then, the Falcons have been able to adjust some things and get back to playing the game they know and now have an overall positive record. They have proven they can hang with the big dogs in the conference. Monroe is currently 5-1 in the GMC while Old Bridge is 4-5. Junior Krish Patel from Old Bridge has been leading his team and will be a key player in this matchup. This will be a test to see if the Knights have what it takes to beat the Falcons or if Monroe can rise above and finally avenge their opening day loss.
