The Greater Middlesex Conference girls' lacrosse season is almost underway, with games starting this week. The conference is stacked with many talented players who will look to continue showcasing their skills this season.
Here are the GMC girls' lacrosse players to watch this season.
GMC Red Division Girls Lacrosse Players to Watch
Jessica Chin, Old Bridge, Midfield
The senior from Old Bridge has shown she is a powerhouse and leader on the field. Last season, as a junior, she recorded 37 goals and 26 assists, proving she can score and create scoring situations for her teammates. Chin is also strong on the draw control circle and aggressive on defense. Stepping up as a senior this year, she should be able to tally up more goals and assists.
Rhya Saloom, Monroe, Midfield
Saloom had an excellent sophomore season, tallying 30 goals and leading the Falcons in assists with 34 last year. She is an outstanding playmaker who can move the ball and create scoring opportunities. Saloom also picked up 47 ground balls and helped her team force turnovers on defense and midfield. As a junior this year, she will be filling some big shoes and will look to help lead her team.
Megan Keefe, North Brunswick, Midfield
As a junior last season, Keefe was a vital asset for the Raiders, scoring 24 goals and having 13 assists. Despite her offensive skills, she is also dominant on the draw control circle, collecting 25 draw controls, and on defense, where she managed to force 26 turnovers. In her last season with the Raiders, she should be able to pick right back up where she left off and help them continue to dominate the GMC.
Nicole Turco, Monroe, Midfield
Turco proved herself a dominant player for the Falcons by scoring 38 goals and 17 assists last season. She is another excellent player on both sides of the field, forcing 14 turnovers, picking up 71 ground balls, and collecting 44 draw controls. This dynamic midfielder will look to continue improving and help her team get back to the conference finals this season.
Jessica George, South Brunswick, Midfield
Last season for the Vikings, George scored 52 goals, leading her team in scoring as a junior. She was also a powerhouse on the draw control circle, tallying 102 draw controls and helping her team from the first whistle. In her final season with the Vikings, she will look to lead her team and continue her dynamic playing style.
Adrienne Cabrera, Old Bridge, Midfield
Cabrera had an outstanding freshman campaign, scoring 25 goals for the Knights last season. She played alongside fellow top scorers, many of whom have graduated, so she will look to help her team in a more prominent role this season. She is also strong on the defensive end and in the draw control circle and will be a significant asset for Old Bridge this year.
Allison Weiden, East Brunswick, Midfield
The senior from East Brunswick can do it all, and the 2023 GMC player of the year has proved that. Weiden led her team in scoring 83 goals and tallied 37 assists, but she didn't stop there. She forced a whopping 85 turnovers and collected 112 draw controls for the Bears. She will be in a prominent role for East Brunswick this season as she looks to lead her team again in her last season with the Bears.
