Red Bulls Unveil New 2024 Legacy Kit

The New York Red Bulls revealed their third kit for the 2024 season which will be called, “The Legacy Kit.” It is a red jersey with black vertical zig-zagging stripes along the front, Adidas’s well-known three white stripes along each shoulder, and white lettering. The Red Bull logo takes center stage largely displayed on the front, with the club’s emblem in the upper left. The shorts will be black and have red socks with a black trim.

Why the Kit Change, Red Bulls?

Unveiling a new kit was not unique to the Red Bulls this February. In fact, MLS and ADIDAS scheduled for all 29 MLS teams to unveil new kits over a four-day span from Feb. 14-17. As an homage to the Red Bulls being one of MLS's original 10 charter clubs, the New York Red Bulls were allowed to release their new kit on day one along with two fellow charter clubs: Sporting Kansas City, New England Revolution; as well as the Philadelphia Union, Charlotte FC and Portland Timbers.

The Legacy Kit was made to the club’s history and the community it was built on.

“Designed to honor those who have come before and inspire the rising stars of tomorrow, this kit represents the essence of our identity and the passion that unites us all,” said the club.

The kit’s primary red coloring with black lines as well as a hint of yellow accents along the white stripes is a tribute to the club that came before the Red Bulls, the New York/New Jersey MetroStars.

"Our legacy is built upon the strength and unity of our community," Elisa Padilla, Chief Marketing Officer said. "This kit represents the culture embedded into the fabric of our city streets and neighborhoods. It celebrates the beautiful game that brings us together and defines our identity."

The Red Bulls are known for being a homegrown team with the most academy and senior team players coming from the New York/New Jersey area and this jersey was made to inspire the next generation of homegrown talent.

Since their rebrand in 2006, New York has primarily donned a white home kit and a red or navy-blue away kit along with a third and alternate jersey. This year's kit change marks the fifth time in 18 years since the club was rebranded that they will wear a brand-new home kit.

Players were excited when the jerseys were revealed expressing how the red shirt would go well with the black shorts and red socks giving it a “refreshing look.” They hope the fans have the same reaction.

“I think it’s fire. To be honest it reminds me a little bit of Belgium because you have the black, yellow, and red in it,” Belgium native Dante Vanzeir said. “It’s a new style. Hopefully, it will bring us some luck on the pitch.”

The Red Bulls will proudly wear the Legacy kit during the 2024 season and hope their fans and the community will do the same.
