New Jersey Devils Halonen

Halonen and Laberge Thrilled to Re-Sign with Devils

The New Jersey Devils continue to re-sign players as their offseason has just begun. The next two forwards being re-signed are Brian Halonen and Samuel Laberge. Both players spent time with the big club and the Utica Comets.

Brian Halonen

Halonen returns on a two-year, two-way deal. Halonen proved he can be someone who fills into the bottom six if needed. He played in two games for the Devils, including his NHL debut, while appearing in 35 games with the Comets.

He had a career-high 20 goals this past season in the AHL while recording a total of 29 points. He was tied for seventh most points in Utica this past season. He has experience in the Calder Cup playoffs, has recorded a total of 62 career points in 109 games, and had the most power-play goals, nine, since the 2017-18 season.

Halonen seems more than ready to help the team if he gets the call-up to the big league.

Samuel Laberge

Laberge is returning to the Devils organization on a one-year, two-way contract. He finished his third season with the Utica Comets with 19 points in 59 games. He scored six goals while assisting on 13.

Like Halonen, Laberge also made his NHL debut this season. He played in two total games for the Devils.

Appearing in 155 regular-season games since joining the Comets in 2021-22, he has recorded 48 points while adding 199 penalty minutes to his resume.

Both of these signings will ensure the Devils have the capability to call up bottom-six players if needed. Halonen and Laberge will most likely report to training camp where they can try and crack the big league’s roster.
