The Martian headed to Triple-A Scranton

BRIDGEWATER, NJ --The Yankees announced on Monday that OF  Jasson “The Martian” Dominguez gets the call-up to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre, along with Major League call-ups for Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza, who were every day starters in Scranton. It was first reported by Brendan Kuty of the Athletic.

I wrote about The Martian when he was invited to Spring Training in February. https://jerseysportingnews.com/jasson-dominguez-wow-the-crowd/  This is huge for Dominguez, who was struggling early on. He has earned the call up after an impressive month of July and August. Current Stats: .254/.367/.414, 83 R, 108 H, 66 RBI, and 15 HR. Here’s his 15th on Friday:

This news came moments after Minor League Baseball named Jasson Domínguez as their Double-A Eastern League Player of the Week for August 14 - 20. Dominguez has earned Eastern League Player of the Week honors after going 13-for-28 (.464) with eight RBIs, eight runs, two homers and five doubles in Reading this past weekend.

Dominguez is the Yankees second ranked prospect. He conquered Double-A and led the Eastern League in Runs (83), and BB (83). He is also second in Hits (108), and stolen bases (37). Dominguez is a well rounded player exhibiting defense, power and speed, a legitimate five tool player. He showcases plate discipline every at bat is no wonder he leads in walks, he makes the right swing decisions. Nerd stats:  69.9% In-Zone Swing% (83rd Percentile), 21.2% Out-of-Zone Swing% (98th Percentile). Jasson has earned his call-up to Triple-A. Here is a testament of his speed:

So far, this month of August, The Martian is slashing .380/.438/.608, 1.046 OPS with three homers, 14 RBIs and nine multi-hit games. On the field, Domínguez had three errors and four OF assists with a FLD .985%. He has played 57 games in centerfield and 44 in leftfield. At just 20 years old and working his way up to Triple-A is a great step towards a possible call up with the Yankees next season.
