Great Scot! Red Bulls' Lewis Morgan joins Scotland for 2024 Euro Cup

With just over a week left until the 2024 UEFA Euro Cup begins on June 14th, the Scotland National Team made one final adjustment to their roster by adding New York Red Bulls midfielder Lewis Morgan.

The Greenock, Scotland native earned his first call-up since 2019 while also making two career appearances for his home country, with his debut being an international friendly against Peru in 2018. Morgan is also the third player in Red Bull history to be named to a roster for the Euro Cup including Lothar Matthaus for Germany and Roberto Donadoni (MetroStars) for Italy.

After being sidelined most of last season due to injuries, Morgan has never looked better, having one of the best starts to a season in his career. The great Scot leads the Red Bulls with nine goals this year and four assists. His most notable performance came on March 23rd in New York’s 4-0 shutout against Inter Miami, where he had a hat trick against his former club.

Throughout his career, Morgan made 110 MLS appearances, including 53 for the Red Bulls, and scored a total of 30 goals with 23 coming as a member of New York. The Scot’s 14 goals in the 2022 season were the most by a midfielder in a single season in Red Bulls’ franchise history.

Scotland is included in Group A of the 2024 UEFA Euro Cup, where they will play three group-stage matches against Germany, Switzerland, and Hungary. The tournament will begin on June 14th, with the first match of the tournament being played by its host, Germany, against Scotland.
