Liberty Easily Handle Clark, Fever

On Sunday, June 2, the New York Liberty took on the Indiana Fever at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

After all of the controversy surrounding WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark this week, she told the media during her pre-game press conference that despite her rough welcome to the league, she is “having fun and living her childhood dream.” Fever Head Coach, Christie Sides, said what Clark is going through is, “typical for rookies and number 1 draft picks.” Sides added that Clark is handling everything well and that she, “just gets up and keeps going.”

About halfway through the first quarter on Sunday, it became pretty clear that New York would have their way with Indiana. The Liberty got off to a hot start with the biggest lead of the game being 21 points. Clark sunk a 3-point shot and the fans at Barclays Center collectively showed her nothing but love by giving her a resounding round of applause.

Breanna Stewart had a quiet first half as her shooting woes continued, but she turned it around at the start of the 3rd quarter. New York went on a 24-7 run to end the third and continued to dominate through the end of the game.

Clark scored three points and left with an injury to her ear mid way through the fourth. The Liberty will travel to Chicago to take on the Sky on Tuesday night at 8PM.
